It is with a bit of regret that we say goodbye to our extended cable TV viewing. Being a sports oriented family we will miss ESPN very much. I will miss a few other stations like HGTV, and the Food Network. But, we're trying to cut some costs and this is one that must go.
The benefits aren't purely monetary...though $40 extra dollars a month will be helpful. I'm really looking forward to saying goodbye to some of the trash that is out there. I'll appreciate not having the arguments with my older boys on what they can and cannot watch. With only 12 channels to choose from their choices will be limited. I'm also looking forward to having the TV off and my family doing more fun activities either around the dining room table, or outside when the weather gets warmer.
Honestly, I don't think we are really going to miss it..... :-)

Good for you! My husband is a sports nut and frankly I think our cable/DTV service would be the LAST to go. So far, my kiddos just watch the cartoon channels, discovery, animal planet and disney. I wish we could get rid of the rest, except the sports channels of course! :)
You are brave brave family!!
Wow! That is an awesome accomplishement! I think you will be so happy you made this move...and your boys will too when they realize its benefits. I wonder if I could convince my husband to do this? hmmmmm
Glad to hear that your little one is doing well. He sure is a cutie pie!

I'm envious! I think "I" could do it, but not Grandpa, who lives for his sports package. I could get American Idol on regular broadcast channels, right?
I don't think your alon out there - I doubt I would miss most of our cable channels! And like you said with sring on the way - I'd sure rather be outdoors and well, my boy needs to be outdoors to burn energy as I'm sure yours do too!
P.S. Glad you had victory at the SS office. I can't believe they put you through all that!
