- It means that we have been assigned a region in Russia where we will be adopting from. Since August we were "regionless" so I think it's a step forward.
- I'll say this with a big "MAYBE" to preface my statement... but our agency has recently been assigning regions when they know that a referral could become available. (That is a huge maybe, as with international adoption everything changes all the time).
- One good thing about the Moscow region is that the travel costs will be lower, because we wouldn't need to take additional airline flights in country. So that is a good thing.
- We need to update our paperwork... Financial statements, medicals, and police reports...plus a copy of our I171 form. All those need to be notarized and apostilled and we need to send them onto our agency. The toughest ones to get done will be the doctors. So I will be calling tomorrow to set that up.
How do I feel? Well quite frankly nervous... there are so many unknowns... and yet I keep reminding myself that nothing is unknown to God. He is in control of each detail...each and every one.
So I ask for your prayers. Please be praying as Chris and I wind up our ministries at church and at the ball field. Please be praying that we get the many adoption related tasks done that we need to do... and please be praying for the children we are to adopt. For their health, and for their well-being. Please pray that God will direct us to those children and we would steadily follow him as He leads the way.

Jackie, I think this is great news! Moscow was so beautiful when we were there a few weeks ago. I hope that your document updates go smoothly!
I agree, it is great news! Oh, I sure hope you hear something about your waiting children soon!
When we were with CHI, I actually requested the Moscow region (back when they let you choose) for the reasons you mentioned. And from following several recent blogs about the Moscow region, things seem to go pretty smoothly there. (At this point, I'm willing to go to the end of the earth or NorthEast Siberia if that is what is will take to get our little girl home ;0)) But Moscow Region sounds pretty sweet!
Best Wishes!!!
Congrats on being registered! We were in Moscow Region and were happy that we didn't have to travel further in. I highly recommend looking into renting an apartment through Peace Travel because the hotels in Moscow are quite expensive. Also, the apartments have free high-speed Internet and free international phone calls. We called home every night to give updates.
Praying for you and your family, Jackie.
Yay - a region!! That should cut down on costs also!! I hope you hear news soon!! We loved Moscow!
uuugh! this waiting thing stinks! i so hope that your will soon be done!
Congrats on your region. That's exciting news. Hopefully your paperwork updates will go quickly.
YEA!!! Registration is good!! I will let you know all about the Moscow region next week since that's where we'll be. If I can help in anyway, let me know! Actually, someone I know from CHI recently got travel dates to Moscow region so it must be moving. You'll most certainly be in our prayers. Hang in there, make a list and knock it all out. (Even though I'm sure you're feeling like having to do paperwork for a second time is like nails on a chalkboard!!) Hugs!
